Extension lecture organized on ‘Combating the challenges of Pandemic-ridden Scenario through Positivity: a Perspective’ at M. M. Modi College
Patiala: The Department of English, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today organized an extension lecture on the topic of ‘Combating the challenges of Pandemic-ridden Scenario through positivity : A Perspective’ This lecture was delivered by Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Prof. Department of English, RIMT University, Mandi Gobindgarh. This extension lecture was focused at reconstruction and rebuilding the faith and positivity against wide spread panic, fear and insecurities among public to address the challenges and problems generated due to pandemic.
College principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the speaker and said that we are in the learning phase of post-pandemic era in which we must analyze and discuss about rebuilding and reconstruction of our different socio-political and economic structures. He motivated the students to maintain the spirit of struggles alive. The speaker was formally introduced By Vice-Principle of the college and head of the Department of English Prof. Shailendra Sidhu. She said that the main objective of this lecture is to develop positive thinking among students and faculty members.
Dr. Tajinder Kaur while delivering the lecture said that Covid-19 has dramatically changed and impacted our living patterns and thinking process. Bringing into focus some of the best literary works she discussed how the writers and intellectuals like Dean Koontz in ‘The Eyes of darkness’ ‘ Sylvia Browne in her important work, ‘End of Days’ and Albert Camus in his novel, ‘The plague’ not only represented the realities and truth of their times but also predicted the future of human civilization. She elaborated how despite internet generated content and well developed informational technologies there was wide spread fear and panic among population. She motivated the students to learn from this socio-political and economic crisis created by pandemic and said that mutual understanding and helping each other is the only way out.
This lecture was coordinated by Prof. Vaneet Kaur, Assistant Professor, English department. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Harleen Kaur, Assistant professor, English department. The programme was technically managed by Dr. Rohit Sechdeva, Department of Computer Science. More than 800 students and teachers participated in this lecture.

ਪਟਿਆਲਾ:ਸਥਾਨਿਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਦੌਰ ਦਾ ਸਕਾਰਾਤਮਿਕ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੱਲ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਡਾ. ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਰਿਮਟ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਕੋਵਿਡ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇ-ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ-ਮੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਣ-ਜਾਂਚ ਤੇ ਸਕਾਰਤਮਿਕ ਸੋਚ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਢੁੱਕਵੀਂਆਂ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਕਿਸਤ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਖੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਚਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਨਜਿੱਠਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਿੱਘਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਦੌਰ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਬਕ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਣ ਦੀ ਸਾਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਣੌਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਥਾ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਸਮੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਲੇਦਰਾਂ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਨੇ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਵਿਡ-19 ਬਾਰੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਹਾਂ-ਪੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਣ-ਜਾਂਚ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਡਾ.ਤੇਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਵਿਡ-19 ਦੀ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇ-ਨਜ਼ਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਨਵੇਂ ਸੰਦਰਭਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਜੀਵਣ-ਜਾਂਚ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਲੇਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ ਤੇ ਸੋਚਣ-ਸਮਝਣ ਦੇ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਤੇ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰਾਂ੍ਹ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਣ ਨਾਵਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਵਲ ‘ਦੀ ਆਈਜ਼ ਆਫ ਡਾਰਕਨੈੱਸ’ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੇਖਕ ਡੀਨ ਕੂੰਟਜ਼ ਨੇ ਸੰਨ 1981 ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਵਾਇਰਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਨ 2020 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਚਰਚਿਤ ਰਹੇ ਨਾਵਲ ‘ਦੀ ਐਂਡ ਆਫ ਡੇਅਜ਼’ ਦੀ ਲੇਖਿਕਾ ਸਿਲਵੀਆ ਬਰਾਊਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਤੇ ਇੰਨਫਰਮੇਸ਼ਨ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਭੈਅ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਲਬਰਟ ਕਾਮੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਲ ‘ਦੀ ਪਲੇਗ’ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੱਸਿਆ।ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਂਮਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਬਕ ਸਿੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਸ਼ਾਵਾਦੀ ਬਣਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਔਖੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਸੰਚਾਲਣ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਵਿਨੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਐਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ।ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਾ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਹਰਲੀਨ ਕੌਰ, ਐਸਿਸਟੈਂਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।ਇਸ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਡਾ. ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ ਨੇ ਬਾਖੂਬੀ ਨਿਭਾਈ।ਇਸ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿੱਚ 800 ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ।
